LASC is currently seeking a highly committed and organized professional to join our team as a Coordinator. This part-time role entails managing our online and physical working environment and coordinating our Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education project in the community sector, including courses, public talks, cultural events, and other related activities.

Hours: This is a 1-year fixed term, part-time position requiring 20 hours per week. Depending on funding an extension is possible. Due to the nature of LASCs work, some work will be required on evenings and weekends. 

Salary: €38,000 per year, pro rated.

Start Date: The role will commence on 1 August 2023.

Job Location: While several activities will be based in the LASC offices in Dublin, there is the option for a certain degree of flexibility and remote work. Travel around Ireland may be required in line with role requirements.

Job Description:

The Coordinator will primarily be responsible for two areas: Office Management and the Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education project.

Office Management Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating project preparation and follow-up, including budgets.
  • Applying for and reporting to funding organizations for ongoing activities.
  • Representing the Centre to external bodies and engaging in public relations and communications.
  • Attending Management Committee meetings and providing reports.
  • Overseeing daily office administration and implementing effective systems.
  • Managing the Centre’s finances in collaboration with the Treasurer and Administrator.
  • Handling phone calls and responding to emails.

Development Education Responsibilities:

The Coordinator will oversee and ensure the successful implementation of a project funded by Irish Aid. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Organizing LASC’s Global Citizenship Education activities in the community and adult education sector. This includes organizing courses on Latin American Development Issues (both within and outside Dublin), monthly public LASCWeds talks on current issues in Latin America, an annual Latin American cultural festival, a training program for youth workers, and the annual Latin America Week series of events.
  • Leading the organization of an art project to highlight specific Latin American development issues.
  • Engaging with organizations and movements in Latin America, providing them with a platform to share their struggles with an Irish audience.
  • Reporting to the Management Committee on the progress of the project, and taking a lead on final reporting to Irish Aid.
  • Applying for future funding from Irish Aid, or from other sources.

The Coordinator may be assigned alternative duties by the Management Committee following consultation from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Third-level qualification in a relevant field (Master’s Degree is advantageous).
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage competing demands on time.
  • Previous management experience, including budget management.
  • Experience working in the adult/community education sector and delivering workshops.
  • Experience with funding applications and liaising with funders.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish/Portuguese.
  • Applicant must be entitled to work in Ireland (Stamp 2 holders are unfortunately not eligible).

Desirable:

  • Experience of living in Latin America.
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector in Ireland.
  • Experience in fundraising and organizing fundraising events.
  • Knowledge of Development Education and Global Citizenship Education methodologies.
  • Experience in organizing public events, such as talks.
