The Latin America Solidarity Centre is a social justice organisation with a focus on development and human rights issues in Latin America. We run educational and cultural events, development education courses, and some campaigns, mostly in Dublin.

As a small organisation with a tight budget, we’re looking for staff through the CE Scheme.  This role would suit someone who wants to gain experience in communications work, PR, journalism, or social media management, as well as the ins and outs of the Irish NGO world and learning what is involved in the day to day running of a small organisation with a mandate for social justice. While duties will principally be communications focused, there will also be some administrative tasks associated with the role.

We’re looking for someone who has an interest in social justice and human rights issues. Experience in communications and/or administration work is an advantage, but not essential. Orientation training will be provided at the start of the contract and there will be ongoing support and in-house training.

Communications duties to include:

  • Drafting and sending out a weekly newsletter to subscribers using MailChimp
  • Uploading occasional content to our WordPress website
  • Keeping our Facebook and Twitter updated with news about Latin America
  • Promoting our events and courses through the website and social media accounts

If interested, successful candidates would also have the opportunity to contribute to event management.

Hours of work: 19.5 per week. Flexible scheduling.

This role is through the Community Employment Programme, therefore candidates need to meet the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection Eligibility Criteria.

To register your interest and begin the application process, please contact your local INTREO office and quote the reference number 2084488.
